Fifteen hundred fishermen have converged on Dutch Harbor, Alaska, for the beginning of the Alaskan King Crab season. Each man is here to stake his claim on the 14,267,000 pounds of crab and the chance to earn a year's wages in just one week.
A handful of adventurers battles Arctic weather, brutal waves, and a ticking clock for a chance at big money. Working around the clock, and often going days without sleep, this unique breed of men is on an unforgettable odyssey. The world’s last gold rush is coming to an end. In 2005 the Department of Fish and Game will give each boat a quota to catch at their leisure. This will be the last time King Crab is ever fished in a frantic derby style.
